P4045585-2 My name is Brittany L. Hunter. I love beautiful things of all kinds, being creative, making people happy, and Jesus. I also love wine, photography, making music, being with kids, cooking, working out, and laughing.

I am the oldest of seven children. My parents are amazing, my siblings are adorable.

I have three lovely Arabian horses and a cute little barn (or they own me, more like.) I spend a good portion of each day doing farm chores, fixing facilities, training animals, and galloping over acres of freshly mown hayfield. During the summer I spend many weekends at horse shows. Someday maybe I’ll compete at Nationals.

I work as a website developer at Grand Valley State University. It’s a pretty great gig. Before that I worked at the Acton Institute, and that was a pretty great gig too.

I graduated in April of 2008 from the Grand Valley State University Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics (classical languages emphasis) after studying Ancient Greek, Ancient Latin, and Classical Literature for 4 years. Under the guidance of Dr. Peter Anderson, I wrote a unit study about Roman citizenship for use in high school Latin classrooms, titled “Civis Romanis Sum”. It received a faculty nomination for outstanding senior project. Before that, I was homeschooled.

I teach violin and viola. In my prime I was blessed to teach over 21 little munchkins; right now life is so busy that I must limit my studio to 12. My kids make me super happy. I also teach Latin as a private tutor, and in the past I taught it at a couple of homeschool co-ops in the area.

I live on a 12-acre piece of paradise in a vicinity generally referred to as “Farmland”, just a hop and skip south of Grand Rapids, MI. I “still live at home” (gasp) with 5 of the aforementioned 6 siblings, 2 parents, 3 horses, 2 dogs, and 7 cats. Some might think my failure to move out is an indication that I’m not actually a grown-up woman, or possibly a result of my parents failing to socialize me properly when they homeschooled me all the way through high school. Not that it’s anyone’s business, but I prefer to think of it as a “fiscally responsible” and “environmentally conscious” thing to do at this point. Nevermind the fact that I pretty much love hanging out with my parents and siblings. I know it’s not the cool thing to do, but I’m okay with that.

I am a sinner saved by amazing grace. Mine is a story of trying, failing, falling, giving up, and being rescued by a God who knows better than I do. He’s leading me. I’m trying to follow. I kind of suck at it, and that results in all kinds of struggle and heartache. But my God is a gracious father, and my Savior has redeemed me, and the Spirit is sanctifying me.
