Here Comes the Sun, originally uploaded by Brittany Hunter.

7:19 AM, Tuesday, February 21, view from my bedroom window.

After I saw this, rolling over and going back to sleep was not an option.

This happens every morning. That’s just amazing to me.

On the way home from Monday Night Bible Study, in the exit ramp between the M-6 and Southbound 131, my car hit 111,111 miles. How exciting. I’d been looking forward to this for a couple days and hoped to have my camera in the car…but nope.
I remember when Micah’s car hit 111,111. I was with him. How special! We were on 44th, on our way back from the music store where we had been purchasing music for men’s chorus.

So then. Here’s hoping for 222,222.

Now I’ve got to go study for midterms.

Editor’s Note: I’ve been offline since 8am Saturday, when I unplugged the router and cable modem at our old house. I will confess that for a few moments after doing so, I experienced feelings of dsyphoria and unease and may have started to hyperventilate. However, though it has been a challenge and more than once over the past 36 hours I have felt the urge to visit a coffeehouse for wireless, I have survived being disconnected from the hivemind for awhile.
But I’m glad to be back, and I’m glad that the wireless internet was being installed at home today.

The following post was written Sunday afternoon, and posted Monday morning upon arriving at the beautiful, wireless-enabled Grand Valley Allendale Campus.

Yep, that’s me. I went ice skating this afternoon. On the pond in our front yard. WE HAVE A SKATING POND IN OUR FRONT YARD. I am so thrilled. Of course, I’m sure I was about as graceful as a retarded one-legged duck. I fell several times, and I have the bruises to prove it. Pffft. As if proof was required for such a statement. But I did figure out how to spin around. I did it over and over again. Remeber when we were little kids and would spin around in circles, or push each other in swivel-chairs until we fell off on account of being so dizzy, or roll down grassy hills? Yeah, I don’t think I ever grew out of that behavior. Or at least the enjoyment of it. Spinning around is intoxicating. I think it’s because every time I do, I’m convinced that I will fall over and crack my head open and die, right there on the ice. So I get this huge rush of adrenaline. Then when I actually come out of it 1 1/2 revolutions later, or fall harmlessly on my hands, I get this incredible feeling of having cheated death. You should try it sometime. In fact, consider this your invitation to come over to our house and skate with me on our pond. In fact, we even possess extra skates, so if you fit a mens’ 8, 9, or 10, you’re all set. If your feet are smaller or larger, sorry, but you’re on your own.

As I was cleaning my skates off at the kitchen sink, my dear Mom said, “I took a bunch of pictures of you out there, so you could put one on your blog.” Aaaw, she knows me so well.

We’re definitely moved in and living here. It’s still a bit surreal. But altogether amazing. Yesterday we had a good two dozen people who spent the better part of their Saturday helping us. The concern and excitement exhibited on our behalf was absolutely wonderful and overwhelming.

Things went so well. The last item of the second of two truckloads (plus miscellaneous cars/trailers/pickups which were also filled) was unloaded a little after 1pm. How’s that for a smooth move? Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Baum family, and we’ve got enough leftovers from that to feed another small army.

Amazing Things about Living Here
1. We can see the sunrise and sunset every morning and evening. In fact, I can see both the east and west horizons from my bedroom. I woke up this morning and the horizon was glowing gorgeous red.
2. The neeeeeeighbors are great. (The human ones are top-notch, too.)
3. The skating pond, of course.
4. We can see the stars in the night sky.
5. We live next door to Narnia.
6. Comcast cable isn’t available here, so we’ve got DirecTV. It carries the Sci-Fi channel. All Star Trek, all the time. I could get to like this.
7. Our hydro-whatever furnace is electric, not gas, so we can turn the heat up as high as we want and buy groceries, too.
8. I promise you, we’re not that far out. It took me a mere 11 minutes to get to church this morning.
9. Furthermore, I have only 3 stoplights on the way to school and all of those are right turns. So I pretty much don’t stop for any amount of time, all the way to school. I can make it in under half an hour. Now that’s sweet.
